The Four Arrows is proud to report that Jorge continues to improve. He has been working with another medical team in Texas at MD Anderson and is making great progress.
We are happy to say that Eddie has finished his radiation treatment! Eddie’s father was fortunate enough to join both Eddie and his mom for his last couple of days of treatment and celebrate the end of this chapter by ringing the bell! Eddie is now back at home in Wisconsin and is super excited to slowly start phasing back into his studies to be a music education major! Eddie is so grateful for all the love and support that everyone has given him throughout this part of the journey! Thank you to Dr. Laack for treating Eddie and making sure he can continue to live his best life and continue his path to achieve his goals in life to use music to change people’s lives positively!
We are excited to share the great news that Cash is doing great and the treatment regimen is working very well. He seizures have reduced drastically, even going as long as 2 weeks without an episode. You can see from his picture that he has experienced some temporary hair loss, which is normal for this treatment. His smile tells us that the temporary side effects are not getting in his way, he is full of energy and getting to run and play like a normal 7 year old. Thanks for all of the support it amazing to see stories like Cash’s unfold
We are please to report that Braxxleigh has improved enough to leave the hospital. It amazing to see her progress from her 3rd open heart surgery to sitting up and giving us a big smile. We are so glad we could help Braxxleigh and her family!
We are happy to report that Hunter has recovered well and has headed home for Christmas. Mom and Dad are exited to get to see the rest the family. Special thanks to Big Sister Chloe for holding down the fort while Hunter had his surgery!
This is Jorge Garza, he is a bright young engineer that is 24 years old and lives in Austin, Texas. Jorge is incredibly positive and courageous as he takes the next steps to get treatment for his recent diagnosis of cancer. Jorge's case is unique, he was actually diagnosed with cancer while being treated for an existing heart condition.
People like Jorge are why The Four Arrows Foundation exists. Jorge deserves the best doctors and cutting edge treatments so he can persevere and spread his positive outlook to others. We are so happy to support Jorge by providing his flight and hotel while he is getting treated at the Mayo Clinic. Special thanks to Dr. Aaron Mansfield at the Mayo Clinic for taking care of Jorge.
Please consider donating to The Four Arrows Foundation so we can continue to help those in need.
This is Hunter Nielsen, he is 13 years old and lives in Iowa. Hunter is one of 5 kids in his family, Hunter and his 3 younger siblings are the boys of the group, it reminds me of our own Four Arrows. My guess is that his older sister Chloe has her hands full with all the boys. Hunter is at The Mayo Clinic's St. Mary’s hospital now, having just completed his 4th surgery and he is doing well. His first surgery was when he was 2 days old, followed by his second at 1 year old, then at 2 years old and now at age 13. We are so happy that The Four Arrows Foundation could support Hunter’s parents, Adam and Fodie. We were able to cover their hotel stay this week. We were fortunate to find them a room close to the hospital where they can get some good rest and be near Hunter. Please follow Hunter’s updates on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/groups/679945642946170 Special thanks to Dr. Joseph Dearani and Dr. Frank Cetta for taking care of Hunter.
UPDATE! - Hunter is has checked out and made his way back home. Take a look at the "Recipient Updates" tab - https://fourarrowsfoundation.org/recipient-updates
This is Jesus Vazquez, his friends call him Chuche, he is 19 years old and was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor referred to as a Medulloblastoma. The latest technology used to treat Medulloblastoma is Proton Radiation therapy. There are a limited number of facilities in the US that provide this care, The Mayo Clinic is a leading treatment center for this method. Proton therapy has been effective because it can deliver high amounts of radiation targeted at the tumor without significant side effects to healthy tissues. The challenge is that the treatment has to be administered over a number of weeks and the travel costs associated are not covered by insurance. This is where the Four Arrows Foundation can help, and we are proud to cover Jesus’ hotel stay for the duration of his treatment. Special Thanks to Dr. Anita Mahajan and her team at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester for taking care of Jesus.
